For allegedly endorsing the presidential candidature of Major Gen
Muhammadu Buhari for the poll, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele
Fayose, yesterday advised Nigerians not to fall for the antics of former
President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Fayose described Obasanjo’s declaration of support for Buhari as political somersault and a suicidal mission.
Fayose, in a statement in Ado Ekiti yesterday, asked Nigerians to
ignore Obasanjo because of his antecedent as a man who has penchant for
deceiving people for his own political gains.
Obasanjo had at a book launch in Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday, declared
support for Buhari, saying he has capacity to fight corruption that is
killing the system.
“Leaving President Jonathan and vote for Buhari is like to abandon
the road and enter the bush. God forbid we enter the forest which we may
not come out for years. How can you follow somebody who because of old
age is senile, but being propelled by his followers to fly the plane at
all cost. Won’t that plane crash?
The governor added that all what Obasanjo represents is failure branding
a failed project so as to plunge the country into another political
crisis.
The PDP leader stated that only gullible minds would obey his call that
Buhari should be voted for, saying that Obasanjo should not be trusted
for anything.
Fayose likened the call by Obasanjo to the people to board a flight with
a sickly pilot, saying that it was like telling the populace to commit
suicide.
He stressed that Obasanjo resulted to all this political abracadabra
because of his failure to secure life presidency through his third term
agenda, adding that that was why he would always want the country to be
in crisis in other to call him for assistance. According to the Ekiti
State governor, anything that comes out of the mouth and mind of
Obasanjo is lazed with senility, which is dangerous for anybody to
follow.
He advised that anybody that follows the words of Obasanjo, was doing
so at his own peril because the former president was no more in tune
with modernity but pride itself now on greed and self aggrandisement.
He maintained that the former president was more of a liability than a
gain in the ongoing political scenario, adding that “his endorsement of
Buhari has clearly sown that he is an elder who has lost wisdom but
merry in ward dream of absurdity.”
Fayose called on Nigerian not to take the former preisdent serious,
saying that Obasanjo had lost the value of a good leader and urged the
people to vote en masse for Jonathan.
