The aide of the Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose Idowu
Adelusi in a phone conversation with Sahara Reporters discloses the
latest effort by Fayose’s team falsify his participation in rigging the
gubernatorial poll in the state last year.
It should be noted that the scandalous tape about last year’s supposed election rigging in Ekiti State which leaked online about a week ago has been trailed with a lot of rumours.
The Ekiti State Governor’s position on the audio tape of a meeting
between him, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Police Minister Jelili Adesiyan,
Senator Iyiola Omisore; and Brigadier General A.A Momoh planning to rig
the Ekiti State election has unendingly developed since the story
appeared.
The scandalous audio tape was firstly emerged on February 5th, which
only represented the conversation between Governor Fayose and the
others; the tape would not be released until later.
On February 6th Fayose rejected that a meeting ever took place,
and that the record was invented by on-line news-agency using special
computer program —this occurred before had even released the audio and
transcripts to the community.
Another audio tape of Fayose talking at a public rally the previous
day was disclosed one week later . In record, Fayose proposed a new
interpretation of events and admitted to have taken part in the meeting
with Obanikoro, Brigadier General Momoh, and others.
Governor of Ekiti State can be heard on that tape recording saying
“listen to the (leaked) audio, you will see I am one accusing the army
of compromise,” pointing that he was at the meeting and that he was
opposing Brigadier General Momoh of rigging the polls.
Mr. Fayose is no longer the only person who admits to have been
participated at the meeting, both Jelili Adesiyan and Musiliu Obanikoro
have said they were there but that they were not proposing to payoff
Brigadier General Momoh or planning to rig the poll. All three of them
now said that Gen Momoh was taking cash from the opposition All
Progressives Congress (APC), and that they were merely confronting him
about his cooperation.
The Chief Press Secretary for Ekiti Governor told journalists during a
recent phone conversation “if you listen carefully to the audio tape you
will discover that it was Ayo Fayose was complaining that he was
accusing it. The Brigadier General Momoh who was taking bribes from the
former governor Fayemi and APC.”
When Fayose’s aide was answered whether Ekiti Governor took part
during the meeting, Adelusi added “Yes Fayose, I won’t call it a
meeting, Fayose was acting on information he got on between Brigadier
General Momoh and the APC trying to manipulate the election and trying
to rig the election.”
Meanwhile Mr. Adelusi argued that “you didn’t listen to the recording
very well,” and that “you will find the things you are saying about is
not on the audio tape.” When forced to on the subject of Fayose
demanding to know why the blank INEC ballots had not reached him Mr.
Adelusi one more time said that he could no longer hear asking
questions.
Fayose’s aide’s comments become more confused when he was answered
about Governor’s anger that Brigadier General Momoh was not imprisoning
APC leadership like they had previously agreed.
Adelusi argued that Ekiti Governor was asking Brig. General Momoh
detain the APC chiefs for trying to rig the polls in Ekiti. He said:
“[Ayo Fayose] as a candidate must report to Brig. General Momoh that
certain people are trying to cause problems. And that they should be
arrested. [He has] the right to report to the head of security.”
Chief press secretary could not clarify why Ekiti Governor would go
to Brigadier General Momoh to arrest the APC leadership for manipulating
elections, when he had first said that the meeting was called because
they “had information” that Brigadier General Momoh was taking bribes
from the APC.
Meanwhile, the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan told the West magazine that leaked audio recording was not worth investigating because “it’s not real.”
