Ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio Steals
N108Billion From Akwa Ibom State, Lawyer Petitions EFCC. Former Governor
of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio has been dragged to the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly stealing
N108.1billion of Akwa Ibom State money by Barrister Leo
Ekpenyong.
In a petition he also sent to President Muhammadu Buhari;
Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, the Abuja based lawyer
cum activist revealed that the ex-governor colluded with two of his
aides, Etekamba Umoren (Former Government House Permanent Secretary) and
Mr. Udo Isobara (Former Accountant-General of Akwa-Ibom State) to
allegedly steal the sum of N108.1billion.
The lawyer added that between January – December 2014 the ex-governor
and his two aforementioned aides allegedly made illegal withdrawals of
N22.1billion from Akwa-Ibom State Government accountant; 1010375881.
Also, he revealed that N18billion was allegedly withdrawn from FAAC account with United Bank for Africa by Udo Isobara.
That is not all; the petitioner revealed that the ex-governor used
the allegedly stolen money to acquire a multibillion naira mansion at
Plot 5, Okogosi Spring Close, Off Katsina-Ala Crescent, Maitama, Abuja; a
multibillion naira mansion at Plot 28 Colorado Close, Maitana, Abuja;
another mansion at 22 Probyn Road, Ikoyi, Lagos; a mansion at Plot 23,
Olusegun Aina Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos and 25 Storey
building on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Sources said Barrister Leo Ekpenyong has been invited by the EFCC to
provide more details on these allegations against the ex-governor and
in-depth investigations has started.
